SitterNest

Privacy Policy

Effective October 8, 2026 · United States

SitterNest helps parents and invited babysitters coordinate household care. This policy explains the information used by the SitterNest service and how to contact us about it.

Information you provide

We store your adult account name and email, a protected password hash, recovery-key hash, and sign-in session records. Household records include the household name and time zone; adult members and invitations; children’s nicknames; care logs, photos, milestones, sitter notes and comments; tasks and parent-entered medication instructions; shift times, child counts, parent-set rates, calculated earnings, and correction history.

Medication instructions and care notes can contain sensitive information. Provide only what the invited adults need for care, and only information you are authorized to share. Child profiles use nicknames; full legal names, birth dates, precise location, and government identifiers are not required.

If you contact support, your email and its contents are received in our support inbox. Please keep passwords, recovery keys, full card details, and unnecessary child information out of support messages.

Technical and payment information

Sign-in cookies keep you signed in. Device storage remembers tutorial preferences; native apps store their sign-in credentials securely on the device. Our service uses hashed email and IP-based identifiers to limit repeated sign-in attempts. Hosting providers may process connection information, IP addresses, device or browser information, and diagnostic logs to deliver and secure the service.

When a parent enables phone alerts, we store the browser’s push subscription endpoint and encryption keys. Notification delivery uses the browser or operating system provider. Notifications may appear on the device’s lock screen.

When paid subscriptions are available, Stripe processes payment details. SitterNest keeps the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers and billing status needed to manage household access. This app does not collect or store full payment card numbers.

Why we use information

We use information to operate accounts and invitations, display shared care records, deliver available notifications, calculate and explain shift totals, preserve correction history, manage subscriptions, answer support requests, prevent abuse, and meet applicable legal obligations. We do not sell household care information or use it for advertising.

Who can see it

Parents choose which adults join a household. Active members see the shared care plans, care records, notes, comments, children’s nicknames, and member information. Parents manage household settings and finances. Sitters see the parent-set rates and their own shift and earnings records. Parents can remove a member’s access; records that member contributed may remain in the household.

Sharing or printing a daily summary creates a copy outside SitterNest that you and the recipient control. The built-in text summary excludes photos and private photo links. Other adults may also copy or capture information they can view.

If you choose to use a browser assistant that supports SitterNest’s on-page tools, it can read the signed-in household day and open a care form. The assistant provider handles information it receives under its own policies. An earlier ChatGPT-based account can also be connected once to create a SitterNest password while retaining its household. New accounts use a SitterNest email and password.

OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare provide hosting, database, and photo storage infrastructure. Stripe provides subscription payments and its billing portal. Browser notification providers deliver enabled phone alerts. Google’s Gmail service handles messages sent to the support address. These providers process information needed to supply their services. Authorized personnel may access information when needed to operate, secure, or support SitterNest. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect safety or legal rights, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate protections.

Provider information: OpenAI, Cloudflare, Stripe, and Google. Providers may process information in the United States or other locations where they operate.

Your controls

Parents can manage invited adults, disable photo uploads, delete photos, correct care records, and choose a photo retention setting. You can adjust in-app care alerts and disable phone alerts in SitterNest or your device settings. The Summary screen lets you share the displayed day’s text records. Contact support for privacy, access, correction, or additional data-copy requests; we may need to verify your identity and authority over the household.

Retention and deletion

Household care, shift, and correction records are kept while the household exists. Removing or correcting a care entry may leave the original information in the parent-visible edit history. Account deletion does not erase shared records under the household’s control.

Photo retention can be set to 30 days, 90 days, one year, or until a parent deletes the photo. Expired photos are blocked from access. Stored expired files are removed in batches when the household refreshes; a household that is not opened may retain stored files longer. Parent photo deletion removes the stored photo and preserves an edit record.

Deleting an adult account removes its credentials, active sessions, and push subscriptions, and removes its active household access. An active sitter shift must be stopped first. The household owner must delete the household before deleting the owner account. Household deletion removes that household’s application records and stored photos. An active subscription or open checkout can delay household deletion until it ends or expires.

Copies already exported by adults, support correspondence, provider logs or backups, and payment records maintained by Stripe may remain under their respective retention practices or applicable legal requirements. SitterNest does not promise that deleting a household erases those separate copies immediately.

Adult accounts and security

SitterNest accounts are for adults 18 and older. Parents and authorized caregivers provide information about children; children should not create accounts. If you believe a child has created an account or information was shared without authority, contact support.

We use encrypted connections, authenticated household access, role permissions, protected password hashes, and short-lived photo links. These measures do not make household data inaccessible to the service providers that operate the system. No online service can guarantee complete security; protect your password and recovery key.
